Olaolu Ariyo

Olaolu Ariyo is a Nigerian-UK based visual artist whose work explores the relationship between chaos and structure in relation to identity. Through painting, Ariyo examines how stability and unpredictability coexist, reflecting the tensions that shape personal and cultural identity. Working primarily with acrylic, oil paint, and graphite pencils, their practice combines controlled figurative elements with fluid abstract forms. Familiar subjects such as still lifes and interior spaces are often set against dynamic, organic backgrounds, creating a visual dialogue between order and spontaneity. Ariyo holds a BA in Media and Communications from Coventry University and works as a self-taught painter, developing a practice that merges representational painting with abstraction.
