Jo Wright
Jo Wright is an abstract painter based in Oxfordshire. Her work is driven by movement, texture, and instinct. Her paintings are built in layers — scraped back, reworked, interrupted (sometimes rescued) until something clicks and it all comes together. The work invites viewers to find their own meaning within the depths. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, Jo embraces a process-led approach that reflects her neurodivergent way of thinking: rhythmic, immersive, occasionally chaotic, and always searching for balance in the composition. She paints until the work feels resolved rather than finished. Self-taught and fiercely independent, Jo has worked deliberately to build her practice from the ground up. Since establishing her studio, she has exhibited across the UK and internationally, earning shortlistings and commendations in juried exhibitions. Her work is now held in private collections, often chosen by collectors marking personal milestones, new homes, promotions, fresh starts. Sustainability underpins her practice wherever possible, incorporating reclaimed materials and conscious studio decisions. Alongside original paintings, she produces hand-finished open and limited-edition prints, personally performing every stage of production to maintain the integrity of the work.
