Ayad Gharbawi

G

I am Ayad Gharbawi, MA, MA, author and artist. My journey begins in a land torn by conflict, where my family was forced to flee Iraq, seeking refuge in Beirut. There, in the chaos of civil war, I lived through the scars of poverty and violence. My path led me to Syria, where I faced the darkness of military prisons, each experience shaping the depths of my mind. Art has been my sanctuary and voice—since the 1980s, I have shared my visions internationally, delving into the joyous and dark mysteries of the mind and the human spirit as we go through our life's daily routines. My paintings are alive; the faces and figures are real – talking, interacting with myself and all who listen to them. They reflect proud resilience, hurt memories, and the silent and loud dialogues within us all. Above all, my art centres on the mind's attributes, joyous and dark, seeking peace.
